Trafford College has placed itself firmly on the map as one of the leading providers of education and training in Greater Manchester, offering responsive provision which meets the needs of young people, adults, and employers alike. The College aims to ultimately equip Manchester with a skilled workforce for the future and has already established an impressive portfolio of business clients across a wide range of industries.

With four sites across Greater Manchester, the College, which has approximately 11,000 students, prepares learners for a happy and fulfilled working life in a wide range of sectors. Young people leaving school can choose from traditional academic or vocational courses; adults can take up learning for the first time or enhance their career with higher level qualifications and employers can use the College’s business training unit to help upskill their employees.

For academic year 2011-12, the College  once again celebrated another highly successful year of results with an increase in A*-B A Level results and an overall pass rate of 97% for both L3 vocational and A Level results. 100% A Level pass rates were also achieved in 11 out of 16 subjects. Despite the ongoing competition for university places, the majority of students managed to secure places at the universities of their choice or progress into employment or further training.

The College has been recognised as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, and as a result we have maintained our Beacon Status, awarded only to the top 10% of Colleges nationally on the basis of their student results. The College has also been awarded National Skills Academy Status for excellence in Retail, Environmental Technologies and Hospitality.

New specialist Science and Technology Centre due to Open September 2013

The College’s planned £9m investment into the redevelopment of the current Talbot Road site will see the extension and modernisation of the existing building to accommodate the provision currently offered at the Technology Centre site on Moss Road in Stretford. This move will see new facilities being developed and old equipment being replaced to create a modern and fully equipped new learning environment.

Talbot Road New Build

Some of the key features of the new build will include world class Engineering and Motor Vehicle workshops, cutting edge Science laboratories, modern classrooms with advanced technology, as well as a specialist Green Room for the latest renewable energy resources.

Trafford College has a long standing reputation for high quality Science and Technology training delivery. The new facility aims to further meet sector demands and prepare future generations with the skills and knowledge to ensure Trafford and Greater Manchester stay at the forefront of Science and Technology innovation. The project is due for completion by the end of 2013.
