Christmas 2023 Note for Parents

by george

Dear Parents,

As the busy first term of the academic year comes to an end, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and to remind you of some key information ahead of the college closure for the Christmas period.

The college campus will close at 2pm on Friday 22nd December, and will reopen on Monday 8th January. We hope that all our students are able to have a restful break and get the opportunity to spend time with friends and family and come back in January refreshed and ready for the next term.

Many students will be undertaking exams in January, so if this is applicable to your child, it is essential that you and they are aware of any dates and that they are fully prepared for these exams. For students with exams, they will have received entry details to their college email address and they are also able to access dates and times on Proportal. Please could you check that your child has accessed and is aware of this information.

Please note that in the new year we will be launching a formal ID procedure, so please make sure your child keeps their college ID badge somewhere safe ready for the first day of the new term.

From the start of the new term we will also be operating under a new name for the college group of the, ‘Trafford & Stockport College Group’. This is a small update to our existing name (The Trafford College Group). Our individual colleges and campuses will continue to retain their individual identities and please be assured that the change in name will not impact on the educational offer and service provided by the college other than to further strengthen our relationship with our learners and communities and to capitalise on the opportunities of operating more visibly as a wider college group.

On this note, you may be interested to know that we have a number of adult and Higher Education courses starting in January across the college group where many of the courses are available to study for free or at a discount dependent on eligibility criteria. Courses are available on a part or full time basis and are ideal for anybody who wishes to start a new hobby, change career or continue with their professional development. We have enrolment events taking place on 11th January and you can find more information on our website.

As a final note, we appreciate that holidays can be a difficult time for some young people and their families. If you or your child find yourself feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed please reach out to any of our partner organisations for support, which you can find details of on the images below. In addition, local food banks can provide Christmas food parcels to help during the holiday season.

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
