Trafford College partners with Europe’s leading visual effects academy

Trafford College has joined with Escape Studios, part of Pearson College London, to offer short courses and masterclasses for students wanting a career in the Visual Effects (VFX), Games, Animation and Motion Graphics industries.

The new partnership will provide budding Games Artists and Animators in the North of England with the same access feedback and industry-focused advice as their counterparts in the South.

Students already studying with Trafford College will be the first to benefit from the partnership; they’ll get the opportunity to join workshops and masterclasses, delivered by the London studio, which has links with many of the country’s leading production houses for film and games.

Summer workshops, starting in July 2018, will be made available to current BTEC and A-Level students from across the region.  The workshops will be open to students that are currently studying a related course and those who would like to continue their studies to degree level and beyond.

Also available in the summer will be a Taster Day for any Year 11 student in Greater Manchester looking to study a related course at Trafford College.

Trafford College Principal and Chief Executive, Lesley Davies CEO, said, ‘As a career college, we provide our students with access to the very best facilities and courses so they can be trained to the latest industry standards ready for the next stage in their career, whether that be straight into employment or onto University.

‘Our partnership with Escape Studios is another example of this commitment and a recognition of the demand from both students and employers alike of the need to fill a skills gap in the extremely exciting and growing digital industries sector.’

Dr. Ian Palmer, Director of Escape Studios, said, ‘We’re really pleased to be partnering with Trafford College to deliver the series of summer workshops and taster days in 2018.  At Escape Studios we’re committed to nurturing creative talent through industry-focused education; the sessions will offer students the chance to explore VFX, Games and Animation and give them a taste of what it’s like to study at university level. Students will be able to complete a mini project which can be used as part of their portfolio and they’ll receive a certificate of attendance which can be used to enhance their university applications too.  The workshops will be delivered by our expert tutors, all of whom have had successful careers in industry and we hope that they’ll inspire many more students to pursue a career in the creative industries.’
