Spotlight on Sale West Community Centre

Sale West has a long-standing relationship with Trafford College Community Learning.  As a SWAP (Sale West Ashton Partnership) partner, the Community Learning team works with other services and organisations in Sale West to plan and deliver courses and training for local people.  Community Learning has gone from strength to strength with courses ranging from Confidence Building and IT to accredited courses in Food Safety, Emergency First Aid at Work and Employability.

To find out what local people want and help engage residents, the team has showcased Community Learning at family fun days such as the recent Big Picnic event and participated in community initiatives such as ‘Stories in the Shadows’.  The local Sale West magazine, ‘SWAN’ was born out of a Community Learning newsletter project and Community Learning even played a role in the 2013 Sale West Christmas lunch with a Table Decorations workshop.

Since September 2013, over 90 local residents have accessed Community Learning courses, 5 residents achieved a Level 1 qualification in Employability and 20 residents achieved a Level 2 qualification in Food Safety and First Aid at Work.  We look forward to recognising these successes in a special celebration event to mark the tremendous achievements and personal learning journeys of Sale West residents.
