Course Details
The units of study will include:
- Working Safely and effectively during Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Foundation Skills for Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Light Vehicle Construction & Light Vehicle Maintenance
- Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension systems
- Operating Principles or Light Vehicle Engine
- Operating Principles & Maintenance of Light Vehicle Transmission system
- Operating Principles & Maintenance of Light Vehicle Electrical & Electronic System
Functional Skills: Students will also be required to carry out Key Skills qualifications in Communication and Application of Number at Level 1.
The course is a mixture of practical and theoretical knowledge. Approximately 25% of the week will be classroom based

Course Assessment
Assessment is by theoretical testing and practical assignments.
Course Progression
Successful candidates can progress to the IMI Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Level 2 or onto an apprenticeship.

The practical element of the course takes place in our fully equipped motor vehicle workshops.
