CACHE LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN CHILDCARE & EDUCATIONEY-02-10
Course Details
This qualification prepares you to work in a supervised capacity, with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the childcare sector
You will spend three days per week studying units including: an introduction to working with children, the developing child, safe, healthy and nurturing environments, children and play, communication and professional skills within childcare and education. Learning is through a student centred approach including a variety of individual or group activities, practical sessions, presentations and the use of ICT to support research.
You will also spend two days per week doing practical training in a local childcare and educational setting, where you will gain experience working with children aged between 1 to 7yrs and 11 months.
Plus you will also study Functional Skills in English and Maths

Course Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade D including Maths and English (or equivalent BTEC/Key Skills).
All successful applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Records Bureau check
Course Assessment
By assignments throughout the course, assessment of competence in the work placement and an externally set multiple choice question paper/test.
Course Progression
On completion of the course students can choose to look for employment in a childcare and educational setting or can progress onto the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or another related level 3 qualification. If progressing into employment they may also continue to develop their skills through a work-based learning programme such as an NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development
Course Additional Information
The students are required to purchase a related course book and child development book. Details will be provided at induction. As the course involves placement with young children students will be required to have a standard Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Students may well be required to attend educational trips and exhibitions and guest presenters will be invited to college to enhance their learning. The teachers come from a variety of professional backgrounds and have a vast experience and knowledge of the childcare sector.
