You will study the following subjects:
- Basic Accounting
- Basic Costing
- Computerised Accounts
- Working Effectively in Accounting in Finance

Course Entry Requirements
Expected to achieve 5 GCSEs or more at grades A*-C, a school reference and a successful interview. You will need to be comfortable with figures but not necessarily strong at the type of maths you do at school. You will develop your computer skills to produce spreadsheets and reports. You will need to be willing to work hard to produce the required work to a good accurate standard.
Course Assessment
You will be assessed through seven skills tests, for which you will have lots of practice. The skills test for each of the units above will test your ability to perform practical activities, for example processing data using a computer. Skill tests are a bit like coursework and will take place throughout the two years.
There will be one three hour exam for the unit: Preparing ledger balances and an initial trial balance. You will have the opportunity to re-sit the exam if you need to.
Course Progression
After your course you may wish to progress onto higher level courses in this area including Accounting for Young Accountants course at level 3, an Apprenticeship in Accounting or a higher level qualification in Business.
Course Additional Information
The course is a practical course where you will learn how to carry out a range of accounting tasks. It is taught in a way that will measure your knowledge and understanding and will allow you to demonstrate that understanding in a practical way. The emphasis is on working and communicating with people in a business environment.
