The course is an intensive programme designed to prepare students for progression onto a degree at university or other HE institutions, or for study in the health professions.


Areas of study include: HE Preparation, Psychology; Biology; Sociology; Health Studies; Independent Health Research Project; Information Technology; Study Skills and Presentation Skills

Entry Requirements for Access to HE Nursing, Midwifery & Health Professions

Maths and English Language GCSE Grades A-C are essential and some universities require Science GCSE Grade A-C, depending on your chosen degree pathway. Bring your original certificate to the interview.

You will be asked to submit an application form and handwritten personal statement.

You will also be asked to undertake a 30 online numeracy and literacy assessment prior to interview.

Students must have relevant work experience (employed/voluntary basis) in the health sector, for which a DBS will be required.

Assessment for Access to HE Nursing, Midwifery & Health Professions

Students are assessed continuously throughout the year. Credits are gained for each module through assignments and a wide range of assessments such as academic essays, presentations and research project. Individual Level 3 units are graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction.

Progression from Access to HE Nursing, Midwifery & Health Professions

Satisfactory completion of the programme may allow progression to a Degree in General Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Children\'s Nursing, Midwifery, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy and Operation Departmental Practitioner.(ODP), Paramedic Practice, Speech and Language Therapy
