Get your career in tune and choose a course in Music. Our Creative Music Producer, Vocal Artist and Performing Musician programmes aim to develop your confidence and musical ability, whilst teaching you the business of music and how to effectively promote yourself. You will hone your talents in our purpose built music facility in the heart of Manchester city centre, which is home to our fully equipped recording studios and rehearsal spaces, as well as specialist music software and computer rooms. You will also get to showcase your musical ability with regular gigs and be encouraged to showcase your talents at national competitions. After College former students have progressed onto university or directly into the industry. Alternatively some students have progressed onto the HND in Music Performance at Trafford College.

Music courses take place at the Manchester Music Base.

Creative Music Producer Stage 2

The course offers a specialised programme of study that has been devised for aspiring programmers and producers who have the potential to develop music skills for further study and employment.

Areas of study will include: Programming; Sound Recording Skills; Music Technology; Composition; Keyboard Skills; Music Business and Music Style Development.

You will also study Functional Skills in English and Maths.

The teaching staff have vast professional experience within the music industry and they are able to share this with the students through practical projects

Creative Music Producer Stage 3

Creating music is the key to this exciting course and technology is the way to make it happen. This course is designed to fuse the study of technology with the skills of the composer. The practical applications are very wide; sequenced chart music and music for television and film.

This course combines developing skills in using sequencing equipment, samplers and synthesisers. It also places these within the wider context of the music industry by offering performance and recording opportunities and music business input. This emphasis makes the course unique among technology related courses at this level.

Areas of study will include: Composition, Project Realisation,Composing for Media, Keyboard skills, Music Technology, Recording Skills and Music Business.

You will also study Functional Skills in English.

Music Stage 1

The course offers young people an opportunity to develop skills in music that will allow them to progress onto a level 2 specialised courses in Performing Musician, Vocal Artist or Creative Music Producer.

Areas of study include: The career of a music artist, music sequencing and production, music business, composing and arranging, live music performance.

Functional skills / Skills for life: English and Maths.

Students will have the opportunity to perform at recognised venues regionally.

The teaching staff have vast experience on a professional basis withing the music industry and they are able to share this with the students via practical projects

Performing Musician Stage 2

The course offers young musicians an opportunity to develop skills in instrumental playing, composing, multi-track recording and music technology, whilst allowing students the opportunity to work on the style of music in which they have a particular interest.

Areas of study will include: Instrumental Study; Music Business; Arranging/Composition; Music Technology; Professional Development; Songwriting; History Project; Theory of Music and Management Skills.

You will also study Functional Skills in English and Maths.

Students will also participate in band rehearsing, presentations, workshops, lectures and performances and have the opportunity to perform at recognised venues regionally and nationally.

The teaching staff have vast professional experience within the music industry and they are able to share this with the students through practical projects

Performing Musician Stage 3
