Adult Courses
This programme is designed to follow the PTTLS course and for those wishing to pursue a teaching career. The level attained will be derived from the assessment undertaken and the result achieved.
The programme comprises of three Madatory Units and Optional Units to the value of at least six credits. These are intended to consider important aspects of \'key areas\' of teaching.
Mandatory Units:
- Planning and enabling learning
- Principles and practice of assessment
Students are required to secure, prior to commencement, a minimum of 2 hours teaching per week for the duration of the course

This is not a full Level 2 qualification.
The qualification aims to develop confidence, motivation, knowledge and skills for the role of the Teaching Assistant. It will also increase the understanding of good educational practices and develop skills to support pupils\' learning. The programme is a preparation course and provides underpining knowledge towards the NVQ standards.
The following are the 5 units of study:
- Develop professional skills and knowledge for supporting teaching and learning in schools
- Support teaching and learning
- Explore and understand how to keep children safe
- Support childrens\' development
- Support and promote positive behaviour
5 units will be studied in total.
Each candidate must also complete approximately 6 hours of work placement experience each week. This equates to approximately 1 day for 18 weeks, although any pattern of experience is acceptable if it totals at least 60 hours (placement diary and supervisor report will evidence this).
