Who is the programme for?
It is ideal for individuals from 16-24 who are career minded, have good communication skills self motivated and want to develop their beauty skills in industry.
Apprenticeships offer a way to train which combines paid employment, whilst gaining valuable experience. You will need employment in a beauty salon. You will attend college 1 day per week.
You will achieve:
- A National Vocational Qualification NVQ3, a recognised qualification in the beauty industry with the City and Guilds examining body.
- Key skills in Application of Number and Communications.
What does the programme include?
The programme is modular, consisting of the required units plus additional units and training. Mandatory units include:
- Financial effectiveness; Promoting service and products; Facial electrical treatments; Body electrical treatments; Advanced hair removal techniques; Swedish body massage; Microderm abrasion.
Requirements:
- To be professional at all times
- Be able to work effectively with others and be willing to carry out and receive treatments, including working on male clients.
- Excellent attendance.
- Hair must be well groomed and tied back.
- All jewellery removed, no facial piercings

The theory behind reflexology is that there are various \'reflex\' areas on the feet that correspond to specific parts of the body. Reflexology is said to promote relaxation and support overall healing. During this course the student will learn basic reflexology techniques, using fignger and thumb pressure on all parts of the foot. Basic underpinning knowledge will also be discussed.

The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to carry out hair removal using waxing techniques. The skills developed will be; communications skills, organistion skills, the ability to work unsupervised, safely and effectively, how to remove hair from the body and face (areas between eyebrows, lip/chin, bikini, underarm and legs) the ability to plan and promote services and advise on after care.
The knowledge acquired will enable them to understand the hair growth cycle and patterns, the theory behind the products, equipment and techniques required to perform waxing treatments and health and safety.
Please note that students need to be aware that they will have to participate in the treatments whilst practising
