Introduction

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to treat each client as an individual and tailor programmes to meet their requirements.

Structure

By combining theoretical and practical work, the programme covers planning and teaching of a variety of advanced training methods with the incorporation of sports conditioning and core stability. You will learn how to develop long-term training plans for a wide-range of clients with specific goals in all components of fitness.

Structure

By combining theoretical and practical elements, you will learn how to teach safe and effective group exercise sessions in a studio setting. You will develop the teaching skills to create and breakdown choreography whilst inspiring and motivating your class.

First Aid At Work

This course is designed to give participants the highest level of First Aid required at work. It will enable the participant to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.
By the end of the course the delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of first aid responsibilities, legalities and reporting.
  • Assess and administer first aid to an injured person including Unconscious casualties, Resuscitation, Heart Attacks, Choking, Poisoning, Fractures, Burns, Head Injuries, Eye Injuries, Sprains, Strains, Shock, Bandaging and Control of Bleeding.  
  • Fulfil the criteria outlined for a First Aid at Work person within the First Aid Regulations.

This course is designed for people who are deemed suitable and are intended to fulfil the role of a First Aid at Work person.

Initial training is completed within 4 days (24 contact hours).
This qualification is valid for 3 years which can be renewed by attending a suitable 2-Day re-qualification course.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.

We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or delivery can be provided at Trafford College campus.


First Aid At Work

This course is designed for people who have already completed their 4 Day First Aid at Work Course and need to complete a Refresher Course to keep their qualification up to date.

Initial training is completed within 2 Days (12 contact hours).
This qualification is valid for 3 years which can be renewed by attending a suitable 2-Day re-qualification course.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.

We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or delivery can be provided at Trafford College campus.


First Aid At Work - Appointed Person Course

This course covers the essential knowledge that is needed for the role of appointed person.

 This course is designed to assist an employer in the provision of a suitably qualified first aid person when the risk has been perceived as being in the category where an appointed person is required.
By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:

  • Render Emergency First Aid to an injured person until medical assistance is available including Heart Attacks, Fractures, Choking, Burns, Shock, Control of Bleeding, Resuscitation, Unconscious casualty.
  • Recognise and appropriately treat most emergency situations

Fulfil the criteria outlined for an appointed person within the First Aid Regulations.

Initial training is completed within 1 Day (6hrs).
Whilst there is no compulsory requirement for retraining, it is normally considered beneficial for appointed persons to have their skills reassessed every 3 years.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.

We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or delivery can be provided at Trafford College campus.


Gym Instructor

Introduction

Ever wanted to develop your interest for fitness into a career? The CYQ Level 2 Gym Instructor course is the ideal opportunity for regular gym users to kick-start their fitness career. As a gym instructor you will be an integral part of the whole gym experience, from walking the gym floor and making sure clients are working-out correctly, to designing bespoke exercise programmes at induction.

The CYQ Level 2 Gym Instructor programme covers both theoretical and practical elements required to deliver safe and effective exercise programmes to an individual or group. Over the 9 days of intensive training, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to excel in the exciting and challenging world of exercise and fitness.

Instructing Health Related Exercise For Children

Introduction

As the latest Obesity bulletin issued by the Department of Health states, obesity in children has rose from 9.9% to 14.3% from 1995 2004*. As the problem gains increasing attention, this qualification aims to give you the skills to motivate and inspire children to get active and engage in alternative fitness programmes, away from computer games and television.

Structure

This 5 day course adopts a combination of practical and theoretical skills to enable you to design safe and enjoyable activities for children at different levels of ability and fitness.

  • The anatomical and physiological changes that take place in children
  • Exploring exercise for children at different growth stages
  • Class structures
  • Aspects of child psychology and motivation

The CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Nutrition & Weight Management looks at the principles of healthy eating and weight management in relation to exercise. This theory based qualification will equip you with the skills and knowledge to give effective advice.

Training In Different Environments

Introduction

Exercise and fitness is not just confined to the gym, many clients may wish to pursue fitness in alternative environments such as outdoors or in the home. This course will give Personal Trainers and Gym Instructors the knowledge and skills to provide exciting and challenging training programmes to meet individual targets.

Structure

The programme is delivered using both theoretical and practical based workshops, considering the variety of training methods that can be incorporated into a programme, whether this is outdoors or within the home.

Include

  • Perform a range of exercises using different environments both indoors and outdoors
  • Use of bodyweight, small pieces of equipment and structures in their natural setting as part of an exercise regime (e.g. trees, stairs, benches, etc.)
  • Benefits of walking in a programme of exercise
  • Teach walking classes to groups and individuals
