What We Can Expect From You
Learners must be employed within a childcare setting, for a minimum of three days. Candidates need to work unsupervised and must have supervisory or specialist roles. Childminders need to be looking after a minimum of 3 children.

What We Can Expect From You
This level is appropriate for you if you are working in technical or professional jobs and/or managing and developing others. You should be capable of undertaking specialist learning and detailed analysis at a high level of information and knowledge in an area of childrenís learning and development. Learners should be working or studying for example, Childminding Network Co-ordinator, Pre School Advisor, Centre or Nursery Manager, Deputy of Centre or Nursery, SENCO or a Senior Practitioner involving high levels of skills with children and families.
This programme equips trainees with the skills required to progress within the early years/ childcare sector. Trainees work in the sector and attend College for skills sessions and underpinning knowledge one day each week. Trainees must be aged 17-24.The programme is modular and the full Apprenticeship Framework consists of:

- Key Skills Level 1
- Level 2 Certifi cate in Early Years Practice (Technical Certifi cate)
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Assessment is continuous by a variety of methods, including observation of practical skills, oral questioning, written tests and projects.
What You Can Expect From Us
Learners will receive help and support from the Trainer and Assessor. There are Technical Certifi cate Workshops to equip learners with all the underpinning knowledge, Key Skills Workshops, and sessions with the Assessor to plan and talk about the NVQ and observations. We will also arrange the First Aid and work with learners on the ERR. We offer confi dential and impartial information, advice, guidance and support to help you achieve your goals.
What We Can Expect From You
Learners must attend every session at College, arrange observation dates with the Assessor and ensure appointments are kept. Learners should be punctual, reliable and enthusiastic. Learners must be in paid employment.
This programme equips trainees with the skills to progress within the Early Years sector. Trainees will attend College for skills sessions and underpinning knowledge one day each week. Trainees must be aged between 17-24. The length of the programmes depends on the age of the trainee.
The programme is modular and consists of:
- Childrens Care, Learning and Development NVQ Level 3
- Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Practice (Technical Certifi cate)
- Key Skills
- Employers Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
- 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid

Learners must be in paid employment at a level three role, for example Room Leader. Learners must attend every session at College to equip them with all the knowledge, arrange observation dates with the assessor and keepto them. Learners should be punctual, reliable and enthusiastic.
This course is designed to give participants the highest level of First Aid required at work. It will enable the participant to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.
By the end of the course the delegates will be able to:
- Understand the principles of first aid responsibilities, legalities and reporting.
- Assess and administer first aid to an injured person including Unconscious casualties, Resuscitation, Heart Attacks, Choking, Poisoning, Fractures, Burns, Head Injuries, Eye Injuries, Sprains, Strains, Shock, Bandaging and Control of Bleeding.
- Fulfil the criteria outlined for a First Aid at Work person within the First Aid Regulations.
This course is designed for people who are deemed suitable and are intended to fulfil the role of a First Aid at Work person.
Initial training is completed within 4 days (24 contact hours).
This qualification is valid for 3 years which can be renewed by attending a suitable 2-Day re-qualification course.
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.
We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or delivery can be provided at Trafford College campus.
This course is designed for people who have already completed their 4 Day First Aid at Work Course and need to complete a Refresher Course to keep their qualification up to date.
Initial training is completed within 2 Days (12 contact hours).
This qualification is valid for 3 years which can be renewed by attending a suitable 2-Day re-qualification course.
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.
We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or delivery can be provided at Trafford College campus.
This course covers the essential knowledge that is needed for the role of appointed person.
This course is designed to assist an employer in the provision of a suitably qualified first aid person when the risk has been perceived as being in the category where an appointed person is required.
By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:
- Render Emergency First Aid to an injured person until medical assistance is available including Heart Attacks, Fractures, Choking, Burns, Shock, Control of Bleeding, Resuscitation, Unconscious casualty.
- Recognise and appropriately treat most emergency situations
Fulfil the criteria outlined for an appointed person within the First Aid Regulations.
Initial training is completed within 1 Day (6hrs).
Whilst there is no compulsory requirement for retraining, it is normally considered beneficial for appointed persons to have their skills reassessed every 3 years.
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.
We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or delivery can be provided at Trafford College campus.
This is a nine month programme.
Learners will complete six Core units and two optional units.

What You Can Expect From Us
Learners are assessed in the workplace according to their level of competency and their ability to perform to a nationally-agreed standard. Learners decide when they are ready to be assessed. Written assignments provide further portfolio evidence. There are no examinations for this course.

What We Can Expect From You
Learners should be working with children and young people aged 5 -15. You must be employed in the setting for a minimum of four sessions a week, paid or voluntary. Settings may be mobile units, play schemes, before and after school clubs.

Learners should be working with children and young people. Level 3 is appropriate for Play workers with a supervisory or management role within the setting, working a minimum of five to six sessions a week. The setting may be mobile units, play schemes, before and after school clubs.

A previous childcare or classroom assistant qualification is required. Learners need to be experienced, working a minimum of three days per week in a school setting, and may have a general support role or specific responsibilities for an individual child or age group.
