NET run this course in conjunction with the JIB, recognised throughout the industry by employers and training agencies alike as proof of competence in the field of ElectricalInstallation. It is also the final part of the Advanced Apprenticeship Framework. The College will administer and monitor the Practical Assessment to the criteria laid out by NET which will run over three consecutive days.
Assessment sections include:

- Inspection & Testing and a Composite Installation
All assessment sections will be carried out so as to be compliant with BS7671 2008 17th Edition.

This scheme is designed for operatives in associated trades working in dwellings and carrying out electrical work as part of their associated work activity. Examples include:
- Installing new circuits cuits from the consumerunit
- Adding additional points to a circuit
The scheme is split into three compulsory core units, four compulsory limited competence units and three optional specialist units.

This course covers the essential knowledge that is needed for the role of appointed person.
This course is designed to assist an employer in the provision of a suitably qualified first aid person when the risk has been perceived as being in the category where an appointed person is required.
By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:
- Render Emergency First Aid to an injured person until medical assistance is available including Heart Attacks, Fractures, Choking, Burns, Shock, Control of Bleeding, Resuscitation, Unconscious casualty.
- Recognise and appropriately treat most emergency situations
Fulfil the criteria outlined for an appointed person within the First Aid Regulations.
Initial training is completed within 1 Day (6hrs).
Whilst there is no compulsory requirement for retraining, it is normally considered beneficial for appointed persons to have their skills reassessed every 3 years.
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above.
We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises or delivery can be provided at Trafford College campus.
This course is intended for qualified electricians who have already gained the relevant qualifi cations for practicing electrical installation operatives. This course aims to provide electrical installation employees with a full appreciation of the current edition of the I.E.E. Wiring Regulations.
Learning outcomes
There are eight outcomes to this unit. These outcomes relate to Parts 1-7 and the Appendices of BS 7671: 2008

A two hour multiple choice online exam is set by City & Guilds at the end of the programme. Entry to this exam is available to all those completing the course.

The aim of this course is to provide the training to satisfy the NICEICs requirement that prospective qualifying managers and operatives are fully conversant with the requirements of BS 7671, for Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.

The delivery of the course will be structured to meet the assessments laid down by City & Guilds. Underpinning knowledge will be covered by lectures and task-based learning while practical competence will be facilitated by hands-on workshop-based practical training.

2) Inspection, Testing and Certification practical assessments
NB Success in the City & Guilds 2391 does not guarantee automatic acceptance to the register of the NICEIC, but gives applicants a good chance of success.

This course is aimed at Managers, Administrators, Supervisors in workplaces providing maintenance services and those responsible for carrying out the testing of equipment and maintaining records of results.
Learners study for 2 separate qualifications over the 12 weeks: Management of electrical Equipment Maintenance and Inspection and Testing of Equipment, and complete an online assessment.

Inspection and Testing of Equipment:
Legal Background (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989);
Construction Classifi cation of Equipment; Inspection and Testing Procedures; Frequency of maintenance and record keeping; Recording of Test Result on Test Schedules.
Underpinning knowledge is given by use of a full set of course notes and exploration of the relevant Code of Practice. Practical hands-on training will be given and visual aids are used in the form of instruments and equipment.
