Richard Beaumont has seen his career in hair and beauty soar thanks to his media make-up course at Trafford College.
Australian-born Richard Beaumont trained in hairdressing after finishing school and started working as an apprentice at exclusive salons in Brisbane and Melbourne.
He also worked on theatre productions, photo shoots, high profile billboard work and the world famous show, Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
Looking for a new adventure, Richard decided to move to the UK, and it was here that he decided he wanted to learn more about make-up artistry.
He started his year-long course at Trafford College and credits his time here to giving his career a huge boost, as well as a new found confidence with his hair and make-up skills. Completely new to make-up, Richard learned everything he needed to be able to incorporate the discipline into his professional trade.
“The best thing about college was learning the understanding of colours and how the face works – but really, all the modules were invaluable,” he recalls.
“Learning make-up skills and advanced techniques gave my journey in this industry a whole new beginning and helped hugely with my career prospects.”
As a result of his course and the college’s strong industry links, Richard was able to build a portfolio, as well as establishing a network of contacts.
Since leaving the college, Richard has been working as an internationally trained hair and makeup artist as well as attracting a loyal client base through his work in some of the region’s best known salons.
His mantra in life; never stop learning.
