Trafford College has teamed up leading creative academy Escape Studios to offer two summer workshops next month to budding game artists and animators.
These workshops are open to current BTEC and A-level students, and those progressing to university this year.
For just £50, you’ll take part in a packed two-day workshop where you’ll be taught by professionals who have worked in the industry and you’ll get hands-on tutorials to create a mini masterpiece that can form part of your creative portfolio. Plus, they’ll be experts on hand to offer tons of careers advice, tips and industry insights to kick-start your career.
The animation workshop takes place from 9.30am to 5pm on 3 and 4 July at the Altrincham campus. This workshop will give you an introduction to the art of 3D animation, as well as exploring what it’s like to work as a professional animator.
Working with tools such as Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop, you’ll also get a hands-on introduction to 3D Animation techniques such as keyframe animation, lighting and rendering. The project you’ll be working on starts from scratch – from an empty scene file to creating a finished character animation shot. By the end of the workshop you will have your very own piece of animation uploaded to YouTube! Book your place on the animation workshop via the Eventbrite page.
Meanwhile the games workshop takes place from 9.30am to 5pm on 5 and 6 July also at the Altrincham campus. This workshop offers an introduction to the art of 3D for games, and will help give you an insight into working as a professional games artist.
Working with tools such as Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop and Unreal Engine you will get a hands-on introduction to 3D game art techniques such as: creating and editing 3D models, UV’s, texturing maps, lighting and of course testing by playing.
The project you’ll be working on starts directly in the game engine where you learn how to manipulate objects and materials, how to interact and destruct objects. You will then export the game model in Maya and edit in 3D, change the textures in Photoshop and bring it back into the games engine to test and refine. Book your place on the games workshop via the Eventbrite page.
