Success is Child’s Play for Rachel
A talented student from Trafford College is flying the flag for careers in Childcare and proving that the sky’s the limit for opportunities in the sector.
Rachel Lester, 20, from Sale has recently completed her Early Years course with Trafford College and is looking forward to taking her place at Manchester Metropolitan University in September, where she will study for a Primary Teaching degree with a specialism in teaching children with special needs. However before embarking on her journey as a university student, she has decided to enhance her CV with some valuable work experience, accepting a position as a nanny with a family in the Alps for the next few months.
Rachel chose to study at Trafford College because of its reputation. Having always had a passion for working with children, especially children with special needs, she was sure of her decision to pursue a career in childcare and she loved the look and sound of the course.
With the help of her tutors, Rachel secured a work placement with Kids Planet Day Nursery, which was recently voted top nursery chain in the UK by OFSTED, and she was offered a full time position there after completing her course. She also volunteered with a school where she supported one child in particular with special education needs. The experience motivated her further to work within this rewarding sector.
Rachel commented, “Studying with Trafford College has helped me in so many ways, but mostly I really enjoyed putting into practice what I’d learned in the classroom in the workplace. I learned so much through my course, but the work placements were also invaluable and I’m so grateful to my tutors for helping me source them. I’ve already inspired my cousin to come to the College! I couldn’t recommend it enough. The support from staff is second to none and the facilities are amazing.”
