Student Support
Choose Support
College is a fantastic choice if you want to be more independent with the freedom to make your own decisions. However, we believe the key to success is support, so don't worry, we won't leave you to cope on your own. We aim to help you throughout your time at College by providing you with the advice, guidance, feedback and encouragement you need to make the most of your time at College and be the best you can be.
We expect hard work and commitment from our students, but in return offer an excellent support package to help you succeed. Read on to find out more about some of the support services available to you throughout your time at College...
Personal Tutor
When you start your course, you will be teamed up with a personal tutor. They will be experienced at giving advice and guidance and will see you regularly to discuss your progress and any issues that may be affecting it. If you have a problem that they can't solve, they will always refer you to someone who can help to ensure you get the support you need.
Careers & Guidance
Making the right decisions about your future isn't always easy. Our expert team of careers staff and Connexions advisors can help you get the best start. By looking at your interests and skills, they can help you choose the right course at College to get you on the right path. Towards the end of your course, they can also support you with applications to university, employment searches, a change of direction, or anything else to do with your future plans.
Counselling
We understand that during your time at College there may be external factors affecting your progress and personal development. You may want to talk to someone in confidence about any worries you have. If so, we have professional and approachable counsellors available for you to speak to privately, to help you manage and overcome your anxieties.
Work Hard, Play Hard
At College we we organise a wide range of activities to help you re-charge and keep active in your spare time. From sports sessions, self defence workshops or a beauty session at Enhance salon (Altrincham), these sessions are the ideal opportunity to take advantage of our great facilities, meet new people and develop a new hobby. We continue to introduce new activities throughout the year to ensure that your time at College is more diverse. The activities could also help increase your confidence and team building skills, and some are great to put on your university application and CV.
Disability Support
If you have a physical disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment or mental ill health we will do our best to provide you with all the support, equipment, access and learning resources you might need throughout your time at College to enhance your learning experience. This support is confidential and is designed to meet your individual needs.
Additional Learning Support
If you are concerned about how you will cope with your course or simply want to improve your study skills, then ALS can help with a range of techniques. From managing revision and developing literacy and numeracy skills, to dyslexia support and improving spelling and grammar, this service is available throughout your studies.
