Financial Support

Finance

There are tuition and exam fees for most courses, which are payable at enrolment. Please see 'How can I pay for my course?' for more information. However, for courses that are Government funded, students may be able to claim fee remission. Look out to see which courses are eligible.

For students who do not qualify for tuition fee remission, full payment of all fees is payable at enrolment. Please note, tuition fees do not include exam/registration/material/CRB/ISA fees, which are charged separately. Students will still be required to pay these fees at enrolment. These fees will be highlighted in the course list. For courses lasting less than 1 year, the fee stated is for the duration of the course. For courses lasting more than 1 academic year, the fee stated is per academic year. Refunds of exam fees are not made unless a class is closed.

Students under 19

If you are 18 years of age or under on 31 August 2010, you pay no tuition or exam fees for Government funded courses, unless fees are being paid by a training provider, in which case the training provider will be invoiced.

Overseas Students

Tuition fees quoted in the course list are for home students – that is UK/EU/Swiss Nationals who have resided in the UK, EEA or Switzerland for at least 3 years. If you are an overseas student, please contact us to enquire about course fees, or visit the Home Office website at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ for more information on the financial support available to you.

How do I claim fee remission?

To claim fee remission you must provide current evidence of entitlement. Please see the table below for details.

What other support is available?

There is a range of financial support you can apply for to help you on your course, to include the following:

Adult Learning Grant ALG (Adults on fulltime courses)

Students may qualify for up to £30 per week during term time to support with course-related costs such as books, equipment and travel. Visit DirectGov.uk/alg for more information.

Childcare Costs

If you need additional financial support to balance your studies with caring for your children, you may be eligible for the Childcare for Training and Learning fund. Visit DirectGov/freechildcareforlearning to find out if you could benefit.

HE Students

How can I pay for my course?

Payment by cash, cheque and most major credit and debit cards is welcome. If tuition fees are above £400 you may pay by standing order with our instalment scheme. If your employer is paying your fees, please bring a letter from them confirming this. The letter needs to be on company headed paper and must detail the fees they are paying.

Remember!

Your place on a course is not secure until you have completed enrolment including payment of all fees and any additional course related costs such as books/uniform, over and above the published fees. Information about these costs will be available at enrolment. You will be asked for proof of your personal circumstances if you are requesting a reduced fee. Please keep your receipts of any course related purchase.
