Finance Support

Trafford College has a number of financial support funds to help students with their studies. The financial support available is dependent upon a students household income. These funds can help with course materials and equipment, books, travel costs and more.

Student Loan

Student Loans are available for students on Higher Education courses such as Foundation Degrees, HNDs or HNCs, etc. For more information about financial support, please contact us on 0161 886 7070.

Access to HE

Tuition Fees

If you are 18 years of age or under on 31 August 2010 before your course starts, you pay no tuition fees. If you are 19 or over before your course starts, tuition fees vary according to the length, type and qualification/aims of the course.

This is applicable as long as you have been resident in the UK/EU/ Swiss Nationals, who have resided in the UK, EEA or Switzerland for at least 3 years. If you have not been a resident for at least 3 years see the ‘Overseas Students’ section below, or alternatively contact our Customer Services on 0161 886 7070.

Please note: Tuition fees do not include examination/registration/material fees which are charged separately. For some courses an additional exam/accreditation/certification fee will apply. Exam/Registration/material fees must be paid at the time of enrolment.

Free Tuition

Free tuition is available on a number of Access to HE courses, depending on individual circumstance (note: an administration fee may apply). To claim free tuition you must provide current evidence of entitlement at enrolment. 

Exams, Registration and Accreditation

For those students who are eligible for tuition fee remission the following status fee applies; if an exam costs up to £80 the fee will be payable in full. If an individual is undertaking more than one exam, these will be covered by the £80 already paid.

For students who do not qualify for tuition fee remission full payment of examination / accreditation fees are payable at enrolment.

Students who are under 19 on the 31 August 2010 will not be charged an examination fee unless their fees are being paid by a training provider in which case the training provider will be invoiced.

Refunds for exam fees are not made unless a class is closed.

Adult Learning Grant

If you are over the age of 19 and in full time education you could be eligible to claim additional support from the Adult Learning Grant. Please visit DirectGov.uk/alg for more information.

The College also has limited fund to offer students experiencing financial hardship to help with course related costs.

Childcare

If you need additional financial support balancing your studies with caring for children you may be eligible for the Childcare for Training and Learning fund. Visit DirectGov/freechildcareforlearning to find out if you could benefit.

Higher Education

Full Time Students (including part time PGCE)

Student Loans

Student Loans are available for students on full time Higher Education courses such as Foundation Degrees, HNDs or HNCs. There are a variety of loans available that can help students with both the costs of living and studying. Information regarding the types of loans available, eligibility and the application process can be accessed online at the Students Loan Company.

Access to Learning Fund

The Access to Learning Fund is available for Higher Education students (full time and part time) who are experiencing continual financial difficulty. More information about this is available at the Access to Learning Fund website.

Overseas students

As stated the information above is applicable as long as you have been resident in the UK/EU/ Swiss Nationals, who have resided in the UK, EEA or Switzerland for at least 3 years. If you are from another country outside these, please visit the Home Office website (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/) for more information regarding financial support available.

Part Time Students

As a Higher Education student on a part time course there is financial support available from Student Finance England. For more information about whether you could claim a Fee Grant and / or Course grant please visit direct.gov.uk/studentfinance.
