Staff from Trafford College and Oldham Council joined Trafford College Principal, Lesley Davies OBE, Oldham Council CEO, Carolyn Wilkins OBE, Mike Shipley, Head of Organisational Development and Julie Gittins, Leadership Development Consultant with Oldham Council’s Development Academy, to celebrate the endorsement of a new training partnership between the two organisations.

    Greater leadership celebration

Trafford College Principal, Lesley Davies OBE joined Oldham Council CEO, Carolyn Wilkins OBE

Trafford College, a leading provider of education and training in the North West, agreed the new ‘Greater Leaders’ partnership with Oldham Council to deliver leadership and management qualifications to the organisation’s middle and higher managers.

The programme will be reinforced by Oldham’s values & behaviours, and mapped to Greater Manchester Leadership and GM Combined Authorities’ transferable skills.

The new training agreement will offer employees with an aspiration to develop within their existing role, and/or progress in management, the opportunity to undertake the Institute of Leadership and Managements (ILM) L3 and L5 Leadership and Management qualifications. Trafford College have worked closely with ILM over a number of years and pride themselves on the quality of the programme.

The partnership will also enable the Council and the College to be more aligned in the delivery of training, whilst making the most of shared values, enthusiasm and capacity. The programmes will include monthly classroom sessions that will embed Oldham Council’s aims, objectives and values into the training. Forty-nine learners are currently signed up to the programme, which will get underway later this month. Employees embarking on the training sessions will have shared access to an increased range of ILM learner resources, as well as access to Trafford College libraries and resources.

Donna Nicholson, Employer Responsive Manager for Trafford College commented:

“This is a fantastic opportunity to work with Oldham Council and we are proud to be a part of their ‘Greater Leaders’ programme. We have worked closely together to ensure that Oldham have been able to embed the aims, objectives and values of the organisation into their training. The selection process for learners onto the programme was well informed and involved all members of the team, ensuring that they will be fully supported by the organisation to complete the qualification.”
